About PetFoodRankings
Our mission
Pet food labels are designed to sell, not to inform. Ingredient panels hide behind marketing, adequacy statements are printed in tiny type, and most βbest ofβ lists can't tell you why a product won.
PetFoodRankings exists to fix that. We rank dog and cat food using a published, weighted methodology β and we show our work on every single page, including the trade-offs that cost products points.
How we're funded
PetFoodRankings earns commissions when readers purchase through affiliate links on our pages. This costs you nothing extra and never influences a score or a ranking β a brand that pays a higher commission ranks exactly where its formula earns it.
We do not sell sponsored placements, accept free products in exchange for coverage, or allow advertisers to review content before publication.
Who writes these rankings
Rankings are written and reviewed by the PetFoodRankings editorial team β pet owners and writers who analyze labels, AAFCO statements, recall histories and aggregated owner feedback for a living.
PetFoodRankings is written and edited by KEFA YING. That means one named person is accountable for every score published here: the label analysis, the AAFCO statement check, the recall history and the trade-offs that cost a product points. Research draws on veterinary-nutrition references including WSAVA guidance, and every page is reviewed for accuracy by a second editor before publication.
Our team consults veterinary-nutrition references (including WSAVA guidance) during research, but every page is reviewed for accuracy by a second editor before publication. Individual medical questions always belong with your own veterinarian.
How to use this site
Start with the category that matches your pet's situation β life stage, form and health concerns matter more than any single βbest overallβ badge. Use the comparison tool to shortlist, read the methodology to see exactly how each score was built, and bring your shortlist to your vet.
